Big Comic Zōkan #1660

Big Comic Zōkan is a long-running manga anthology published by Shogakukan, designed as a supplemental expansion to the parent magazine, Big Comic. These special issues typically feature a mix of established serials and one-off stories, catering to an adult demographic that appreciates sophisticated storytelling and diverse artistic styles. Issue number 1660 arrives as a continuation of this legacy, maintaining the publication's traditional focus on seinen manga that blends human drama with social commentary.

The aesthetic of the Zōkan line is heavily influenced by the editorial mandate to provide high-quality, thought-provoking narratives that deviate from the more mainstream shonen manga found in other anthologies. The design work for these issues generally highlights signature cover illustrations by prominent artists, intended to catch the eye of commuters and adult readers. The reception of these issues has remained steady over the decades, as they are viewed as staples of Japanese magazine culture, valued by collectors for their archival role in the history of manga serialization.
