Where it came from
Big Sakka, Kyūkyoku no Tanpenshū: Fujiko F. Fujio was launched by Shogakukan as a comprehensive anthology series dedicated to the short stories of Fujiko F. Fujio, the legendary manga artist best known for co-creating Doraemon. This inaugural volume was designed to collect the master's diverse range of 'SF' (Sukoshi Fushigi or 'a little mysterious') short stories, which delve into satirical, dark, and speculative themes that differ significantly from his works aimed at younger children.
The editorial team curated these volumes to highlight Fujiko F. Fujio's prowess in adult-oriented storytelling and psychological depth, often showcasing his ability to blend mundane domestic life with unsettling or thought-provoking science fiction concepts. The series received critical acclaim for its high-quality production and remains a definitive archive for scholars and fans interested in the broader literary scope of the author’s career outside of his most famous serialized characters.
