Blade & Bastard #4

Blade & Bastard is a dark fantasy manga series written by Kumo Kagyu, the creator of Goblin Slayer, and illustrated by Makoto Sogetsu. This series serves as an expansion of the Wizardry video game universe, specifically capturing the gritty, unforgiving atmosphere of classic dungeon-crawling role-playing games. It follows the story of Iarumas, an amnesiac man resurrected in a dungeon, as he navigates the lethal consequences of adventuring alongside a young swordswoman.

The fourth volume continues the established tone of high-stakes survival and somber character exploration that defines the series. Makoto Sogetsu’s art style prioritizes detailed, atmospheric environments and character designs that emphasize the harsh reality of their surroundings. Upon its release, the series was well-received by fans of the dark fantasy genre, praised for its faithful adherence to the Wizardry aesthetic and its commitment to the brutal, tactical nature of tabletop-inspired storytelling.
