Blood Blockade Battlefront Omnibus #1

Blood Blockade Battlefront, originally titled Kekkai Sensen, was created by mangaka Yasuhiro Nightow and first serialized in 2009. The series is celebrated for its chaotic, supernatural depiction of a transformed New York City known as Hellsalem's Lot, where otherworldly beings and humans coexist in a state of fragile tension. The omnibus editions were published by Dark Horse Comics to collect the sprawling narrative into more accessible volumes for English-speaking audiences, consolidating the fast-paced, stylish artwork that Nightow is known for following his success with Trigun.

The design of these omnibus editions emphasizes the kinetic energy inherent in Nightow's visual storytelling. By bundling multiple volumes, the publisher intended to capture the complex, ensemble-driven plot that defines the series, allowing readers to better track the intricate world-building of the Libra organization. Upon release, the omnibus format was well-received by fans of the series who valued the convenience of the larger trim size, which highlights the dense, detailed linework and the idiosyncratic aesthetic that characterizes the urban fantasy setting.
