Where it came from
By the Grace of the Gods, or Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko, originated as a light novel series written by Roy and illustrated by Ririnra. The narrative follows a middle-aged Japanese salaryman who is reincarnated into a magical world as a young boy, eventually using his knowledge and slime-taming abilities to find happiness. The manga adaptation, which features the artwork of Ranran, translates this gentle, low-stakes fantasy premise into a visual medium, appealing to readers who enjoy the 'isekai' genre's slice-of-life aspects rather than traditional high-stakes combat.
The second volume of the manga series serves to expand upon the protagonist Ryoma's integration into his new life and his growing bond with the various slimes he discovers. Ranran's design work focuses on a soft, approachable aesthetic that captures the series' tone of healing and quiet discovery. Upon its release, the volume was well-received by fans of the light novel, who praised the manga's ability to retain the serene atmosphere of the source material while providing a polished, character-driven visual narrative.
