Captain America #381

Captain America issue 381 was published by Marvel Comics in early 1991, arriving during a pivotal era for the character under the long-standing tenure of writer Mark Gruenwald. This issue is part of the 'Streets of Poison' storyline, a gritty arc that explored the social impact of narcotics in the Marvel Universe, reflecting the publisher's attempts to anchor superhero narratives in contemporary real-world crises.

The issue features cover art and interior illustrations primarily associated with Ron Lim, an artist whose clean, dynamic style defined the visual aesthetic of the Captain America title throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Lim's work was widely praised for its consistency and readability, providing a grounded, heroic depiction of Steve Rogers that resonated with readers of the period as the series leaned into more complex, character-driven storytelling.
