Captain Voodoo #3

Captain Voodoo, an independent comic series created by writer Gerhard Shubert and artist Raphael Kay, emerged in the late 1980s as part of the flourishing wave of alternative and creator-owned titles. Published by Innovation Comics, the series drew inspiration from classic pulp adventure tropes and occult detective fiction, blending supernatural intrigue with a distinctively gritty visual style that captured the experimental spirit of the independent scene during that era.

Issue number 3 reflects the thematic core of the series, focusing on atmospheric storytelling and the exploration of mystical underworlds. The design and narrative direction were centered on establishing a moody, cinematic quality that distanced the title from traditional superhero tropes. While the series maintains a niche following among collectors of late-80s indie comics, it is recognized primarily for its role in the decade's broader movement toward diverse, unconventional comic book narratives.
