Chicano KEI: Beikoku Gokuaku Keimusho wo Ikinuita Nihonjin #20

Chicano KEI: Beikoku Gokuaku Keimusho wo Ikinuita Nihonjin, which translates to 'Chicano Style: The Japanese Who Survived America’s Worst Prisons,' is a manga series based on the real-life experiences of Junichi 'KEI' Sato. Sato spent years incarcerated in American prisons after becoming involved with Chicano gangs in Los Angeles. The series provides a visceral, unfiltered look at prison life, ethnic tensions, and the survival strategies required to endure high-security facilities in the United States.

The manga is illustrated by Kenta Suzuki, who utilizes a gritty, realistic art style to capture the intensity of Sato’s narrative. The series gained significant attention in Japan for its unconventional subject matter, bridging the gap between true-crime memoir and serialized manga. Issue #20 continues the documentation of Sato's life, focusing on his navigation of complex gang politics and his ultimate return to Japan, where he transitioned into his current role as an author and youth outreach advocate.
