Chichi to Haha wo Nakushi Toyama no Yamagoya de Hataraku Hanashi #2

Chichi to Haha wo Nakushi Toyama no Yamagoya de Hataraku Hanashi, translated as The Story of Working in a Toyama Mountain Hut After Losing My Parents, is a poignant autobiographical manga series documenting the author's survival and labor following the death of their parents. The work emerged from the creator's desire to process personal tragedy and poverty, offering an unflinching, grounded look at the hardships of rural Japanese life during the mid-20th century.

The series is noted for its raw, unadorned visual style that mirrors the austerity of the narrative. By avoiding typical shonen or shojo embellishments, the author creates a documentary-like atmosphere that emphasizes the stark reality of mountain labor. Upon its release, the series garnered respect within niche manga circles for its quiet sincerity and its contribution to the subgenre of autobiographical social commentary.
