Chilling Adventures in Sorcery #3

Published in 1973 by Archie Comics under their Red Circle imprint, Chilling Adventures in Sorcery was an attempt by the publisher to pivot toward the horror anthology trend that dominated the 1970s comic market. While Archie Comics was primarily known for wholesome teen humor, this series featured darker, macabre tales hosted by Sabrina the Teenage Witch, marking a deliberate shift in tone intended to capture older readers who were following the success of titles like Tales from the Crypt or Creepy.

The third issue serves as a quintessential example of the era's gothic aesthetic, characterized by illustrators and writers blending traditional supernatural tropes with the slightly campy narrative style typical of 1970s horror paperbacks. Although the series did not achieve the longevity of its peers and was eventually repurposed, this specific issue remains a curiosity for collectors interested in the experimental period when Archie Comics attempted to diversify its brand identity away from Riverdale.
