City Hunter Omnibus #2

City Hunter Omnibus #2 is part of the localized English-language omnibus series published by SuBLime, a dedicated imprint of Viz Media, aimed at bringing Tsukasa Hojo’s seminal 1980s action-comedy manga to a wider Western audience. Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump starting in 1985, the series captures the high-stakes, slapstick-infused world of Ryo Saeba, a private detective working in the criminal underworld of Tokyo. This omnibus format collects multiple original volumes into a singular, cohesive trade paperback designed to modernize the reading experience for contemporary fans of classic seinen and shonen genre staples.

The character design and storytelling reflect Hojo's mastery of dynamic action sequences contrasted with absurdist humor, a signature style that defined his work during the golden era of manga. The series was initially received as a cultural touchstone in Japan, celebrated for its blend of gritty noir tropes and comedic subversion. This omnibus release serves as a archival effort to preserve Hojo's detailed linework and iconic character archetypes for new generations, providing a high-quality presentation that highlights the kinetic energy of the source material.
