Classic Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi #1

Released by Dark Horse Comics in 1994, this issue served as part of the publisher's effort to adapt the original Star Wars film trilogy into a refined comic book format. The series was designed to provide a high-quality, serialized retelling of Return of the Jedi, capitalizing on the renewed interest in the franchise during the mid-nineties. It functioned as a bridge between the classic cinematic experience and the expanding Star Wars literary universe that Dark Horse was meticulously building at the time.

The adaptation featured interior artwork by Art Nichols and cover illustrations that aimed to capture the epic scale of the Battle of Endor and the climactic confrontation between Luke Skywalker and the Emperor. By utilizing a more modern artistic approach than the original 1983 Marvel adaptations, the series was well-received by fans who appreciated the improved coloring techniques and character portrayals that aligned more closely with the visual language of the films.
