Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures #7

Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures was a comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics beginning in the mid-1990s. This series served as a collection and reprint initiative, bringing the newspaper strips originally written by Russ Manning and drawn by him and his studio artists to a new generation of readers. These stories were first syndicated in the late 1970s and early 1980s, shortly after the original film's release, filling a gap in the lore while the theatrical sequels were still in development.

The art and writing for this issue draw heavily from the aesthetic established by Manning, who was tasked by Lucasfilm with capturing the adventurous spirit of the galaxy far, far away. His design approach prioritized fluid, kinetic action sequences that diverged slightly from the cinematic look, instead leaning into the pulp-adventure roots of the space opera genre. Upon their later publication in this format, the stories were received warmly by enthusiasts who appreciated the nostalgic, self-contained narratives that defined the early era of Star Wars expanded media.
