Where it came from
Classic X-Men #31 was published by Marvel Comics in March 1989. The series was designed to reprint pivotal stories from the original Uncanny X-Men run, providing context for newer readers while offering supplemental material. This specific issue reproduces the story from X-Men #125, originally released in 1979, which features the team's dramatic confrontation with Arcade in his twisted 'Murderworld' amusement park.
The reprint features a new cover illustration by Arthur Adams, an artist renowned for his intricate detail and dynamic compositions, which became a hallmark of the series. The original story was written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by John Byrne, capturing the intense team dynamics and character-driven drama that defined the late-seventies X-Men era. The Classic X-Men line is highly regarded by collectors for its role in preserving these essential narrative milestones with updated visual aesthetics.
