CrossGen Chronicles #1

CrossGen Chronicles #1 was published in 2000 as a cornerstone title for CrossGen Comics, a company founded by Mark Alessi with the ambitious goal of creating a shared, interconnected universe of fantasy and science fiction stories. The series was designed as an anthology platform intended to provide readers with essential backstory, lore, and deeper context for the various individual series emerging from the CrossGen stable, effectively acting as the connective tissue for their 'Sigilverse' continuity.

The debut issue featured creative contributions from established industry talents like Mark Waid and Butch Guice, who aimed to establish a high production standard through consistent coloring, innovative digital lettering, and a cohesive house style. While the ambitious scope of the project was initially praised for its polished presentation and narrative organization, the experiment faced significant challenges as the company navigated the complex logistical demands of maintaining a sprawling, multi-title narrative ecosystem throughout the early 2000s.
