Crowbound #1

Crowbound #1 was published by Image Comics as part of their effort to showcase distinct creator-owned properties. The series emerged within the landscape of mid-2020s independent publishing, a period marked by an increasing emphasis on genre-blending narratives that bridge dark fantasy with modern emotional stakes. It was created and illustrated by Stephanie Phillips and Flaviano Armentaro, who sought to establish a visually atmospheric world that balanced gritty action with character-driven storytelling.

The design of the issue reflects a modern comic aesthetic, utilizing bold panel layouts and high-contrast color palettes intended to convey the series' supernatural themes. Upon its debut, the title was received as a promising entry in the publisher's lineup, noted by critics for its cohesive world-building and the expressive, kinetic quality of its linework. The creative team aimed to ground its otherworldly premise in a tangible sense of place, setting a consistent tone for the arc that followed.
