Daffy Duck #23

Daffy Duck #23 was published in 1961 as part of the long-running Dell Comics series dedicated to the beloved Looney Tunes character. During this era, Dell was the primary publisher for Warner Bros. properties, aiming to bring the manic energy of theatrical animation to a portable, monthly format. This issue arrived during a period of transition for the publisher, as they were balancing their established house style with the evolving expectations of the Silver Age comic market.

The interior artwork reflects the house style typical of Western Publishing, which handled the creative duties for Dell at the time. These comics were designed to be accessible, wholesome entertainment for children, focusing on slapstick scenarios that mimicked the timing of the original animated shorts. While individual artists for specific Dell issues are often uncredited, the visual aesthetic relied on clean, recognizable character models that maintained strict brand consistency with the studio's animation department.
