Daffy Duck #86

Daffy Duck #86 was published in 1974 by Gold Key Comics, a division of Western Publishing that held the long-running license for many classic Warner Bros. properties. During this era, Gold Key maintained a distinct style that favored a clean, accessible aesthetic suitable for newsstand distribution, moving away from the more experimental layouts seen in earlier decades to focus on humor-centric stories that captured the frantic, argumentative personality of the character.

The creative direction for the Gold Key Looney Tunes titles was generally handled by an editorial team that prioritized continuity with the animated shorts. While specific writer and artist credits for this issue were frequently uncredited in line with the publisher's house style, the series was designed to provide a wholesome reading experience for a younger demographic, keeping the character's mischievous spirit intact while strictly adhering to the creative constraints of the Comics Code Authority.
