Daffy Duck #76

Daffy Duck #76 was published in 1974 by Gold Key Comics, a division of Western Publishing. During this era, Gold Key was the primary licensee for Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters, producing long-running anthologies that transitioned from classic animation shorts to original comic book narratives. This issue reflects the typical aesthetic of the mid-1970s Gold Key output, which prioritized child-friendly, episodic humor that adhered closely to the established personalities of the studio's animation department.

The comic features the distinctive, simplified house style common to Gold Key’s production unit, where scripts were often credited to house writers rather than specific individuals to maintain a uniform brand voice. These books were distributed primarily through newsstands and grocery stores rather than the direct market, which defined their status as mass-market periodicals. While not critical darlings at the time, they are now appreciated by historians for preserving the transition of legendary animation characters into the medium of 1970s print publishing.
