Dark Horse Presents #100.4

Dark Horse Presents issue 100.4 was released in 1995 as the final installment in the milestone five-part anthology event marking the 100th issue of the publisher's flagship series. This ambitious project was designed to showcase the breadth of the Dark Horse library, featuring a rotating roster of creators that reflected the company's mid-nineties focus on both licensed properties and innovative creator-owned works. By segmenting the centennial celebration into five distinct sub-issues, Dark Horse aimed to provide a comprehensive look at the diverse genres—from noir to science fiction—that established its reputation in the independent comics market.

The issue features artwork and storytelling that exemplifies the stylistically dense and edgy aesthetic prevalent in independent comics of the era. The curation for this specific issue was overseen by the editorial team at Dark Horse, who prioritized a mix of established industry veterans and emerging talents to capture the essence of the series' longevity. Critics at the time noted that the celebratory arc successfully balanced high-profile character appearances with experimental narratives, solidifying the publication's status as a vital platform for creative expression outside the traditional superhero hegemony of the era.
