Dark Horse Presents #102

Dark Horse Presents #102 was published in October 1995 as part of Dark Horse Comics' flagship anthology series. Launched in the late 1980s, the series served as a creative incubator, providing a venue for independent creators to experiment with mature themes and unique artistic styles outside the confines of mainstream superhero tropes. By the mid-1990s, the anthology remained a cornerstone of the company’s identity, prioritizing high-concept narratives and varied visual aesthetics over traditional serialization.

This specific issue is notable for its inclusion of work by established creators such as Mike Mignola and other prominent contributors who defined the dark, atmospheric tone of the era. The cover art and interior stories were designed to reflect the title’s reputation for avant-garde storytelling, aiming to draw in readers who preferred complex, anthology-style fiction. Upon release, the issue was received as a standard but solid entry in the long-running series, praised by collectors for its consistent editorial direction and the high caliber of its diverse creative talent.
