Where it came from
DC Comics Presents #60 was published in August 1983 as part of a long-running series that focused on team-ups between Superman and various members of the DC Universe. During the early 1980s, the title served as a reliable venue for exploring deeper character dynamics and smaller-scale adventures that differed from the high-stakes sagas found in the core Superman monthly titles.
This specific issue was written by Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn, with artwork by Rich Buckler and Romeo Tanghal. The narrative focuses on an encounter between Superman and Captain Marvel, also known as Shazam, which was a recurring point of interest for fans due to the historical legal rivalry between DC and Fawcett Comics. The story was well-received by readers of the period for its respectful handling of the two iconic heroes' powers and differing personalities.
