Where it came from
DC Comics Presents #62 was published in October 1983 as part of a long-running team-up series that featured Superman alongside a variety of DC characters. This specific issue is notable for its creative team, written by Dan Mishkin and Gary Cohn, with artwork by Rich Buckler and Romeo Tanghal. The story centers on a crossover between Superman and the Metal Men, exploring the intersection of Kryptonian physics and Will Magnus’s sentient robotic creations.
The creative direction for this series focused on spotlighting lesser-known or secondary characters by placing them within the orbit of DC's premier hero. The design of the issue adheres to the classic bronze-age aesthetic of the early eighties, characterized by dynamic action-oriented cover art that was intended to draw in readers on newsstands. It remains a representative example of the character-driven experimentation that defined the DC Comics Presents title during that era.
