Where it came from
The DC x AEW comic series was launched in 2022 as a collaborative crossover project between DC Comics and All Elite Wrestling. This limited series was conceived to bridge the gap between comic book mythology and professional wrestling, placing prominent AEW talent into the iconic environments of the DC Universe. The initiative sought to capitalize on the overlap between superhero fanbases and the theatrical, episodic nature of wrestling storytelling.
This specific issue features creative contributions from writers including Aubrey Sitterson and artists such as Jeremy Treece. The visual aesthetic leans into the bold, high-contrast style typical of modern superhero comics, while integrating the distinct wrestling personas of AEW stars. Upon release, the series was received by fans as a novelty collectible, noted for its meta-narrative approach that treats wrestling storylines with the same dramatic gravity as classic comic book arcs.
