Where it came from
DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #2 emerged from a crossover partnership between DC Comics and Sega, blending the high-speed world of Sonic with the expansive DC Universe. This series was conceived to explore the intersection of the blue blur's mythos with iconic DC archetypes, specifically centering on the threat of the Metal Legion, a robotic antagonist force that challenged the combined rosters of both franchises.
The art and narrative direction for this series sought to capture the aesthetic sensibilities of both properties, bridging the vibrant, fast-paced design language of Sonic games with the cinematic framing typical of DC titles. Upon its release, the issue was received as a curiosity for collectors interested in inter-company crossovers, particularly for fans of the late-90s and early-2000s era of experimental comic book collaborations.
