Demi-Human Share-House #1

Demi-Human Share-House, or Ajin-chan wa Kataritai, debuted in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2012. Authored and illustrated by Petos, the series was conceived as a lighthearted, observational comedy that explores the daily lives of 'demi-humans'—mythological creatures like vampires, dullahans, and succubi—integrated into a modern high school setting. The narrative centers on a biology teacher who holds a deep fascination with these individuals, shifting the traditional monster-hunter trope into one of academic curiosity and empathetic social commentary.

The design of the series balances quintessential manga aesthetics with expressive, often humorous characterizations that emphasize the domestic struggles of supernatural beings. Upon its release, the first volume was well-received for its gentle tone and its focus on character development over dramatic conflict. Its success eventually led to an anime adaptation in 2017, solidifying its place as a recognized entry in the slice-of-life supernatural subgenre.
