Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko #2

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, translated as Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl, is a light novel series written by Hitoma Iruma and illustrated by the artist Buriki. The second volume was published in 2009 by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint, following the introduction of the protagonist Makoto Niwa and his cousin Erio Touwa. The series emerged during a period of rising interest in eccentric, character-driven light novels that blended slice-of-life narratives with minor supernatural or psychological undertones.

The visual identity of this volume is defined by Buriki’s distinctive character design, which emphasizes vibrant color palettes and delicate, expressive portraiture. The cover illustration features Erio, whose striking blue hair and enigmatic posture became iconic representations of the series' aesthetic. The work was generally well-received by the light novel community for its unconventional dialogue and the atmospheric writing style of Iruma, eventually leading to a successful anime adaptation produced by the studio Shaft.
