EC Catacomb of Torment #10

Catacomb of Torment was a title published under the EC Comics banner during the early 1950s, a period when the publisher was redefining the horror and suspense genre. This specific issue, number 10, emerged from the height of EC’s creative output, reflecting the company's signature blend of macabre storytelling, moral irony, and dark humor that defined the era's pre-Code comic landscape.

The visual identity of the series was crafted by a stable of legendary illustrators, including artists like Graham Ingels or Jack Kamen, whose atmospheric, detailed pen-and-ink work focused on creating a sense of dread. These stories were curated by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines, who aimed to challenge the standards of pulp storytelling. While the series was highly influential among readers, it eventually became a target of the moral panic surrounding comics, contributing to the establishment of the Comics Code Authority.
