Ennead #1

Ennead, a webtoon series created by the artist Mojito, debuted in 2020 as a reimagining of Egyptian mythology centered on the dynamic between the deities Horus, Seth, and Osiris. The series emerged from the growing popularity of mythological retellings in South Korean digital comic platforms, aiming to blend intricate character development with high-stakes epic fantasy. Its visual style is notable for its dramatic lighting, emphasis on character aesthetics, and a mature, psychological approach to divine power structures.

The narrative structure of the first issue establishes the turbulent history of the Egyptian pantheon, focusing on the cyclical nature of conflict between the gods. Mojito designed the series to subvert traditional portrayals of these figures, favoring a dark, nuanced atmosphere that resonated strongly with a global digital audience. Since its inception, the work has been recognized for its bold artistic direction and for expanding the presence of complex myth-based storytelling within the contemporary webtoon medium.
