Ernest & Rebecca #2

Ernest & Rebecca #2 is part of a beloved French graphic novel series created by writer Guillaume Bianco and illustrator Antonello Dalena. The series, originally titled Ernest et Rebecca, debuted in the late 2000s and centers on the touching, imaginative bond between a young girl named Rebecca and her companion, a germ named Ernest. This issue continues the narrative established in the premiere, building on the series' signature blend of whimsy, childhood vulnerability, and surreal humor.

The creative direction behind the series was to externalize the emotional experiences of childhood illness through the personification of a germ. Bianco's storytelling is lauded for its sensitivity, while Dalena's artwork utilizes a distinct, fluid style reminiscent of classic Franco-Belgian comics, which helps ground the fantastical elements in a relatable domestic setting. Upon its release, the series received significant critical acclaim, particularly within the European comics market, and was eventually translated for international audiences who appreciated its earnest approach to themes of family and resilience.
