Ernie julespesial #2000

Ernie julespesial, or the Ernie Christmas Special, is a long-standing tradition in the Norwegian comic book landscape, featuring the locally popular strip known internationally as Ernie, created by Bud Grace. These annual holiday issues were published by Schibsted Forlag to capture the seasonal market, offering readers a compilation of strips that favored the absurdist and often dark humor characteristic of the series. The year 2000 edition was produced to celebrate the millennium, maintaining the established format of providing a festive, oversized collection of comic antics intended for both long-time followers and casual holiday readers.

The character of Ernie and his surrounding cast reflect the satirical and irreverent style Bud Grace cultivated during his tenure with King Features Syndicate. The design of these annual specials typically recycled the syndication style of the daily strips while packaging them in a seasonal context. While Ernie achieved significant cultural penetration in Norway—often outpacing its domestic popularity in the United States—the Christmas specials served as a stable, reliable staple of the comics section, praised by fans for their consistent delivery of slapstick and sardonic wit.
