Exiles #17

Exiles #17, released in 2002, serves as the conclusion to the 'Unnatural Instinct' story arc within the Marvel Comics series created by Judd Winick. The Exiles line was designed to explore a multiverse concept, allowing for high-stakes, shifting team rosters and alternate reality versions of established characters. This particular issue follows the team as they navigate the complexities of a world where mutants and humans have integrated in ways that disrupt the core team's mission to repair broken timelines.

The art for this era of Exiles was handled by Jim Calafiore, whose work was central to establishing the series' fast-paced, character-driven aesthetic. The design and narrative direction were praised at the time for their willingness to kill off fan-favorite characters, a hallmark of the series that kept readers invested in the stakes of each mission. The issue remains a notable entry for its focus on character development amidst the chaotic, reality-hopping nature of the broader comic book series.
