Exorcist no Kiyoshi-kun #8

Exorcist no Kiyoshi-kun is a supernatural comedy manga series that explores the daily life of a reluctant exorcist navigating the complexities of the spirit world. Published in the early 2010s, the series was designed to blend traditional Japanese folklore with modern school-life tropes, aiming to provide a lighthearted counterpoint to the darker, more intense horror manga prevalent at the time. Its arrival on the market coincided with a broader trend of character-driven fantasy titles that prioritized humorous domestic interactions over standard action sequences.

The eighth volume, which continues the narrative arc of Kiyoshi as he attempts to balance his supernatural duties with his social responsibilities, features the signature clean linework and expressive character designs that defined the series. The artist focused on creating a distinct visual language for the spirits that the protagonist encounters, often using high-contrast shading to differentiate them from the mundane world of the characters. While the series maintains a niche status, it has been noted by critics for its consistent pacing and the nuanced growth of its protagonist across its collected volumes.
