Ex-Mutants: The Shattered Earth Chronicles #7

Ex-Mutants: The Shattered Earth Chronicles #7 was published in 1993 by Eternity Comics, an imprint of Malibu Comics. The series was a continuation and reimagining of the original Ex-Mutants concept, which centered on a post-apocalyptic world where genetically mutated humans struggled to survive in a society dominated by prejudice and conflict. By the early 1990s, the title reflected the era's fascination with dark, gritty science fiction and the shifting landscape of independent comic book publishing.

The creative direction for this series leaned into the established tropes of the 'Shattered Earth' setting, focusing on the tactical and emotional burdens of the central characters. Designers and illustrators working under the Malibu/Eternity banner at the time were tasked with maintaining a consistent house aesthetic that emphasized detailed, action-oriented line work. While the series was aimed at a niche audience of collectors who appreciated alternative superhero narratives, it remains a historical marker of the experimental period in the comic book industry prior to the major market consolidation of the mid-1990s.
