Fantastic Five #3

Fantastic Five #3 was published in 2000 as part of an alternate-future miniseries written by Tom DeFalco and illustrated by Paul Ryan. The series emerged from the long-standing creative partnership between DeFalco and Ryan, who had previously helmed the core Fantastic Four title during the 1990s. This specific project explored the future of the Marvel Universe, featuring an aged Reed Richards and his extended family navigating a timeline where the boundaries between their personal lives and cosmic responsibilities had shifted significantly.

The visual design of the series leaned into the classic aesthetic established by the creators, prioritizing a sense of familial continuity while introducing new iterations of familiar powers. The issue was received by readers as a nostalgic expansion of the Fantastic Four lore, serving as a vehicle for the creators to revisit character dynamics they had spent years developing. It remains a notable entry for collectors interested in the specific editorial voice of the era, which often prioritized expansive, multi-generational storytelling.
