Fantastic Four #217

Fantastic Four #217 was published by Marvel Comics in April 1980. Written by Doug Moench with art by Bill Sienkiewicz, this issue is part of the long-running series created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. At the time of its release, the title was in a transitional phase, featuring the creative efforts of Moench as he navigated the complex character dynamics of the First Family of Marvel during an era of significant stylistic evolution for the publisher.

The interior art by Bill Sienkiewicz is notable for being an early example of his evolving, expressionistic style, which would eventually become his trademark. During this period, the comic industry was shifting toward more experimental storytelling techniques, and the work on this issue reflects a departure from traditional house styles. It is regarded by collectors as an interesting piece of mid-bronze age history that highlights the stylistic bridge between classic superhero aesthetics and the more stylized, abstract art movements that followed.
