Fin Fang Four #1

Fin Fang Four #1, released in 2005 by Marvel Comics, serves as a humorous spin-off featuring the classic cosmic dragon Fin Fang Foom and other B-list villains attempting to navigate life in the mundane world. The series emerged from a lighthearted editorial push to recontextualize long-standing, often neglected antagonists as reformed citizens participating in parole-style community service, playing with the tropes of superhero continuity.

The issue was written by Scott Gray and illustrated by Roger Langridge, who adopted a stylized, expressive aesthetic that leaned into the comedic tone of the premise. Langridge’s artwork, characterized by clean lines and exaggerated character design, was intended to bridge the gap between traditional comic storytelling and satirical farce. The release was generally well-received by fans of Marvel’s more experimental, humorous titles for its clever subversion of classic character archetypes.
