Where it came from
Generation X #2 was published in 1994 as part of the broader X-Men expansion during the mid-nineties. The series was created by writer Scott Lobdell and artist Chris Bachalo to feature a new generation of mutants training at the Massachusetts Academy. This issue continued the team's introduction, following the success of the debut issue which capitalized on the massive popularity of the X-Men franchise at the time.
The visual identity of the book was defined by Chris Bachalo's distinct, stylized approach to illustration, which departed from the traditional house style of Marvel Comics in the early nineties. His work on this series was critically noted for its whimsical, fluid lines and experimental panel layouts, which helped establish a unique tone for the young mutant characters, setting them apart from the more grounded narratives of the core X-Men titles.
