Generation X-23 #1

Generation X-23 #1 was published by Marvel Comics in 2005 as a one-shot issue, serving as the debut of Laura Kinney, or X-23, in her own solo title. The character had previously been introduced in the animated series X-Men: Evolution before transitioning into the mainstream Marvel Universe. This issue was written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, the creative team instrumental in establishing the character's dark, clinical origins as a clone of Wolverine, with artwork by Billy Tan.

The narrative focuses on the internal struggle of a young assassin seeking to escape the legacy of the Weapon X program. The design of the character, characterized by her signature dual-clawed hands and stoic, utilitarian aesthetic, was crafted to evoke a sense of vulnerability beneath a lethal exterior. Upon its release, the issue was well-received by readers for its gritty tone and successful translation of a television-originated character into the long-standing comic book canon.
