Gøg og Gokke #197207

Gøg og Gokke, the Danish title for the iconic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, was featured in a long-running series of comic books published in Denmark during the mid-to-late 20th century. Issue 197207 belongs to the 1972 run, a period when the publishers, Interpresse, leaned heavily into the slapstick appeal of the duo. These comics served to introduce a new generation of European readers to the classic film gags through static, illustrated storytelling, adapting the essence of their cinematic timing into print format.

The visual style of these Danish editions often relied on house artists tasked with maintaining the recognizable likenesses of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The design aesthetic was utilitarian and aimed at the newsstand market, characterized by bold, simple panel layouts that prioritized readability and comedic impact. While these issues were primarily viewed as ephemeral entertainment for children at the time, they have since become touchstones for Nordic comic collectors interested in the trans-Atlantic reach of mid-century American pop culture icons.
