Gøg og Gokke #197209

Gøg og Gokke was the Danish-language comic book series featuring the iconic duo of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. Published for several decades by Gutenberghus, later known as Egmont, the series adapted the slapstick humor and distinctive physical comedy of the films into a serialized comic format. The 1972-09 issue fits into the series' mid-period run, a time when the character designs were standardized to emphasize the duo's classic silhouettes, focusing on the contrast between Laurel’s wide-eyed innocence and Hardy’s exasperated authority.

The illustrations for the Danish Gøg og Gokke comics were produced by a rotation of European artists working under the editorial guidance of the publisher to ensure continuity with the source material. These comics were intended for a family-oriented audience, aiming to capture the gentle, harmless spirit of the original short films. Upon their release, they were generally received as lighthearted entertainment, serving as a nostalgic bridge for fans of the films while introducing the characters to a new generation of Nordic readers.
