Gøg og Gokke #9

Gøg og Gokke was a long-running Danish comic book series featuring the iconic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. These comics were part of a post-war European tradition of adapting American slapstick film stars into print media, allowing fans to enjoy the visual gags and physical comedy of the original films through the medium of sequential art. Issue number 9 was produced during a period when the series maintained a steady presence on newsstands, catering to a younger audience who grew up with reruns of the classic shorts on television.

The illustrations for these Danish editions often relied on a mix of localized humor and standard caricature styles common to the mid-century European comic market. By capturing the expressive faces and distinct silhouettes of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, the artists aimed to translate the duo's cinematic timing into static panels. While specific editorial records for issue number 9 are scarce, the series as a whole served as a successful bridge between Hollywood's Golden Age cinema and the burgeoning comic book culture in Scandinavia.
