G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #333

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #333 was published by Image Comics in 2024 as part of the revived series originally written by Larry Hama. This issue serves as a continuation of the long-running narrative that began at Marvel Comics in the 1980s, maintaining the continuity and tone established by Hama decades prior. The series' return to print under the Image banner represents a major archival and creative project, aiming to honor the legacy of the original run while attracting both long-time devotees and new readers through serialized, character-driven storytelling.

The aesthetic of this era of the series remains firmly rooted in the military adventure archetype defined by Hasbro’s original toy line, with the artwork emphasizing tactical realism and dynamic action sequences. Because the series functions as a direct legacy continuation, the design choices are intentionally conservative, prioritizing the familiar character designs of figures like Snake Eyes and Duke to provide a sense of continuity. The reception has been largely driven by nostalgic interest from the original fanbase, who appreciate the dedication to the classic 1980s storytelling conventions in a modern publication format.
