Where it came from
Giant-Size Chillers #2 was published by Marvel Comics in 1974 as part of a trend of over-sized, higher-priced quarterly issues designed to capitalize on the horror craze of the 1970s. This specific issue is historically significant for featuring the first appearance of Lilith, the daughter of Dracula, who was introduced to expand the lore of the publisher's long-running Tomb of Dracula series.
The issue was written by Marv Wolfman, a central figure in defining Marvel's horror output, with art by Gene Colan, whose atmospheric, shadowy style became the definitive look for the company's vampire stories. Designed to offer readers a substantial package of interconnected horror narratives, the title aimed to provide a premium experience compared to standard monthly comics, receiving moderate interest from fans of the period's darker, supernatural-themed graphic storytelling.
