Goblin Slayer Gaiden 2: Dai Katana #9

Goblin Slayer Gaiden 2: Dai Katana is a manga prequel series written by Kumo Kagyu, the creator of the original Goblin Slayer light novels, and illustrated by Takashi Minakuchi. Published in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine, the series serves as an expansion of the franchise's lore, detailing the legendary expedition into the Dungeon of the Dead that took place long before the events of the main story. This ninth installment continues the tactical, dark fantasy narrative that has become a staple of the series.

The art style in Dai Katana is notably distinct from the main Goblin Slayer manga, emphasizing the high-stakes, classic tabletop-inspired dungeon crawl setting. The series was designed to flesh out the backstories of secondary characters who are already established figures in the series' world-building. Upon its release, the manga was well-received by fans of the light novels for its commitment to the grim, high-casualty tone that defines the universe, maintaining the grim aesthetic that characterizes Kumo Kagyu's work.
