Guānyú wǒ Zhuǎnshēng Biànchéng Shǐláimǔ Zhèdàngshì #2

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, known in its original Japanese as Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, began as a serialized web novel by Fuse before being adapted into a widely successful light novel series and manga. The second volume of the manga adaptation, illustrated by Taiki Kawakami, follows the protagonist Satoru Mikami after his death and subsequent rebirth into a fantasy world as a slime. This specific volume continues the narrative as Rimuru Tempest explores his new environment and begins to consolidate power among the local monster communities.

The character designs and world-building were praised for their blend of traditional high-fantasy tropes with modern litRPG mechanics, a subgenre that gained immense popularity in the mid-2010s. Taiki Kawakami's art style was specifically lauded for balancing the whimsical nature of the protagonist’s slime form with the intricate, often dark aesthetic of the world’s inhabitants. Since its release, the series has become a cornerstone of the isekai genre, serving as the foundation for a sprawling franchise that includes multiple anime seasons and spin-off publications.
