Guy Gardner Reborn #1

Guy Gardner Reborn #1, published by DC Comics in 1992, emerged during a pivotal era for the Green Lantern mythos. Following the events of the Justice League International era, this limited series was crafted to redefine Guy Gardner as a solo protagonist after he lost his power ring and status as a Green Lantern. The narrative sought to establish a new, grittier identity for the character, distancing him from the Justice League ensemble to explore his personal evolution and the consequences of his abrasive personality.

The series was written by Gerard Jones and illustrated by Joe Staton, a veteran artist whose work on Green Lantern established much of the character's visual history. The creative team aimed to lean into Gardner's rebellious, anti-hero archetype, utilizing the newfound lack of cosmic authority to force the character into a more grounded, desperate struggle. While received as a significant shift for the character, it remains remembered primarily as a bridge toward the dramatic changes Gardner would undergo later in the decade during the Emerald Twilight arc.
