Hawkman #12

Hawkman #12, published in 1965 during the Silver Age of comics, represents a quintessential chapter in the series' mid-sixties revival. The issue was crafted under the editorial guidance of Julius Schwartz, who played a pivotal role in DC Comics' modernization of its Golden Age characters. The stories of this era were designed to blend traditional superhero adventure with the burgeoning interest in science fiction, capitalizing on the popularity of the character's reintroduction in the pages of The Brave and the Bold.

The interior art was provided by Murphy Anderson, a definitive Hawkman illustrator whose clean, classic lines were instrumental in establishing the visual identity of the character and his partner, Hawkgirl. Writing duties for this period were often handled by Gardner Fox, who leaned into the Thanagarian space-opera elements of the mythos. The work was generally received as a reliable example of the high-quality, inventive craftsmanship that defined DC’s output during that decade, securing its place in the established canon of the Silver Age.
