Hellblazer #234

Hellblazer number 234, published by DC Comics under the Vertigo imprint in September 2007, is part of the long-running series featuring the occult detective John Constantine. This specific issue falls within the 'The Red Right Hand' story arc, which was written by Mike Carey and illustrated by artists including Frazer Irving. The narrative continues Carey’s multi-year tenure on the title, a period characterized by its exploration of Constantine's past through a blend of gritty urban realism and supernatural horror.

The design of the issue adheres to the established aesthetic of the mid-2000s Vertigo era, prioritizing atmospheric storytelling and moody, expressive linework. Mike Carey’s run is often noted by critics for humanizing the protagonist while maintaining the cynical tone that defined the character’s origins in the 1980s. The issue was received as a solid entry in a critically stable period for the series, maintaining the high standard of dark fantasy that fans of the imprint expected.
