Heroes Reborn: The Return #2

Heroes Reborn: The Return #2 was published by Marvel Comics in 1997 as part of a four-issue limited series intended to bridge the narrative gap between the controversial Heroes Reborn reboot and the established Marvel Universe. Following the conclusion of the Heroes Reborn experiment, in which characters like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four were reimagined by Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld’s studios, this series functioned as a canonical cleanup to reintegrate these icons into their original continuity.

The issue features art by Chris Sprouse and writing by Peter David, a creative team tasked with managing the tonal shift back to traditional Marvel storytelling. The narrative focuses on the return of the heroes from the pocket dimension they had occupied during the reboot. The reception was largely defined by the reader base’s relief at seeing the restoration of the classic Marvel status quo, as the series effectively addressed the fan dissatisfaction that had built up during the preceding year of experimental revisions.
